Olson named new president of Winona State

ST. PAUL — Winona State University has a new president.

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees on Wednesday appointed Scott R. Olson as Winona State’s 15th president.

Olson is the provost and vice president for academic and student affairs at Minnesota State, Mankato. He also served as MnSCU’s interim vice chancellor for academic and student affairs.

Olson succeeds Judith Ramaley, who is stepping down after seven years as Winona State president.

Olson will take over at Winona State on July 16. Connie J. Gores will serve as interim president until Olson begins his duties. Gores is vice president for student life and development at Winona State.

Winona State has nearly 8,900 students, with campuses in Winona and Rochester.
