ST. PAUL — Now that the Legislature has adjourned, both sides are positioning for a fall election that will determine control of both chambers.

GOP House Speaker Kurt Zellers says his side has set the state “on a course to fiscal stability” by refusing to raise taxes and reducing state spending.

Zellers says Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton was more focused on winning approval for a new Vikings stadium, which passed with more Democratic than Republican votes.

Meanwhile, Dayton says he will work to help Democrats win back control of the Legislature.

He is asking voters to take a chance on full Democratic control at the Capitol for two years by giving him Democratic majorities in both houses.

Neither party has had the trifecta since 1990, when Democrats had the governorship, House and Senate.
