Weekend Planner: Open Streets event is Saturday

Published 9:30 am Thursday, May 31, 2012

Organizers of Open Streets Albert Lea hope people will fill the downtown streets on Saturday.

The Open Streets Albert Lea event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is meant for a day of play for local residents to walk, run, bike, skateboard or more throughout the downtown streets, which will be closed off to cars.

There will also be a dedication of the Blue Zones Walkway — a walking, jogging and biking route around Fountain Lake — with author Dan Buettner at 11 a.m. at Fountain Lake Park. The event is a kickoff for Moais in Motion, and Moai participants will receive a free T-shirt.
