Bachmann at Chicago event

CHICAGO — Her sights now set on re-election, Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann is still making the most of the national conservative stature she drew on during a run for president.

The Minnesota congresswoman is among the ex-presidential candidates to appear Friday at the Conservative Political Action Committee’s one-day gathering in Chicago. Bachmann was scheduled to address the group in the evening.

She was a short-lived player in the 2012 presidential campaign, dropping out after a poor showing in Iowa’s caucuses. Bachmann is instead after a fourth term in Congress, facing a Democrat who made his mark in Minnesota’s hotel industry.
