Chip sealing begins today

The city of Albert Lea Street Department has announced the annual road chip sealing program will begin today. The process is expected to take six weeks. Chip sealing is a process in which a thin layer of oil and rocks are used to extend the life of the roadway.

Streets affected include Seath Drive, Westwood Drive, Ashley Court, Bay Oaks Drive (west of Highway 13), Highview Trail, Oline Drive, 11th Street, Lake Chapeau Drive, West Sunset Street, Meadow Lane, Trollwood Drive, Campus Lane, Campus Drive, Milrose Circle, Bellaire Drive, Hillhave Street, Riviera Drive, Wedgewood Road (south of Freeborn County Road 46), Capital Lane, Tower Place, Tower Road, Bellview Lane, Lynwood R., Mark Drive, Knoll Drive, Wedgewood Drive (north of County Road 46), Brent Drive, Will-O-Bruce Drive, Chestnut Street and McArthur Drive.

The roadways will not be closed during the chip sealing process. The city of Albert Lea asks that people drive with care and use extra caution on these streets when the chip sealing operations are occurring. There may be minor delays and disruptions in parking.
