DFL convention spurs hope, energy

I attended the DFL state convention last weekend, and, I’ve got to say, I came home full of hope, optimism, energy and excitement about the upcoming general election. Hope that people will turn out in large numbers to vote. Optimistic that voters will see the divisive nature of the constitutional amendments brought forward by the republican majority and will vote NO to hate and fear. Energized and ready to work hard for the re-election of President Barack Obama, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, U.S. Congressman Tim Walz and Sen. Dan Sparks. Excited that Shannon Savick, with her message of “Representation not Politics,” is the candidate that will win back the Minnesota House seat currently held by Rich Murray.

I hope each of you will get involved early and hang in there until the work is done. A fun way to get the campaign season started is to attend the DFL picnic on June 14 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Pioneer Park. It’s a great opportunity to visit with our minority leader, Paul Thissen, our state DFL legislators, and meet Shannon Savick, our candidate for Minnesota House.

It doesn’t get much better than family, friends, food and interesting conversation. Hope to see you there.
