Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea awarded four $750 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in its service area interested in pursuing an education in health care. This scholarship encourages students and gives them the opportunity to achieve their goals. One June Wells Scholarship was awarded to a student pursuing an education in communications.

Health care scholarship recipients include: Andrea Tomschin of Alden-Conger High School for nursing; Samantha Reim of Albert Lea High School in health sciences; Matthew Buhr of Albert Lea High School for biology/pre-med; and Sean Laurie of Albert Lea High School for biomedical engineering/pre-med. The June Wells Scholarship recipient is Colleen Thompson of Albert Lea High School for communications/business administration.

Scholarships were awarded primarily on the basis of leadership, commitment, character and academic ability.
