More than 1,000 vehicles inspected

More than 200 equipment warnings and 76 traffic citations were written on Saturday during a checkpoint conducted by the Iowa State Patrol and other law enforcement agencies.

According to a news release, the checkpoint, at mile 212 of southbound Interstate 35, was from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

During the project, officers inspected 1,167 motor vehicles and 88 commercial motor vehicles.

The release states 211 equipment warnings were given and 76 traffic citations were written. One person was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and four people were also arrested for drug violations.
