Albert Lea city officials are warning residents of a possible scam involving city water bills.

According to a news release, the Finance Department was notified by two individuals Tuesday of calls regarding past due water bills and a possible shut off of services.

The release states the city will never contact residents by telephone in regard to shutting off services. Instead, the city will send out written notices through the U.S. Postal Service if water service is to be interrupted.
