MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis Fire Department says a late-night blaze at a factory caused several propane cylinders to explode. No one was injured, although one firefighter may have suffered heat exhaustion.
The fire was reported Friday about 9 p.m. at the Smith Foundry. Crews found stacks of wooden pallets on fire, and the flames were near propane cylinders. Several of the tanks exploded, causing the fire to spread inside a storage building.
Fire crews called in additional resources. Together they brought the fire under control about 11 p.m.
Employees were at the scene, but no injuries were reported.
A message left with a fire marshal Saturday asking about the firefighter’s updated condition was not immediately returned.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.
