The Freeborn County Historical Museum will host its annual Swiss steak fundraiser event Thursday.

The meal will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Albert Lea’s American Legion. The museum’s executive director, Pat Mulso, said organizers hope to have at least 200 people attend and said the public is invited to attend.

“It is Crazy Days so we’re hoping that will bring in some people off the street,” Mulso said. “It’s a cool place to stop in and have a quick, full meal and support the museum while you’re doing it.”

The menu includes Swiss steak, a baked potato, green beans, a dinner roll and sherbet for dessert. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children age 10 or younger.

“We have supplemental funding from Albert Lea’s chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans,” Mulso said.

Any donations that day will be eligible for the supplemental funding, and Mulso said organizers would like to raise around $3,000. This annual fundraiser often goes toward needed building improvements, like in past years when replacing a furnace and similar repairs.

This year the funds will go to replacing the air conditioner for the archive area, because the old one recently stopped working. The funds will not go to the museum’s building expansion fund, though Mulso said they’re continuing to raise funds for that cause as well.
