Kaphers was organized and knew how to motivate athletes to compete at their best ability.

Under Kaphers’ leadership, Albert Lea won many championships, including state and Big 9 championships. He was also named the Minnesota Cross Country Coach of the Year in 1978.

Kaphers will join seven others at the Saturday event.

The meal and ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Prior to the induction there will be a four-person best shot golf tournament at 10:30 a.m. and a silent auction beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The guest speaker of the evening will be Eric Nyquist, a 1990 graduate of ALHS.

All proceeds from the Hall of Fame are donated to ALHS to reduce participation fees for high school athletes.
