Student awarded doctor of philosophy degree

Kevin H. Peterson was awarded a doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Michigan in December 2011. His Ph.D. is in mechanical engineering with a focus on automotive engineering. The title of his thesis is “Single Camera, Three Dimensional Particle Tracking Velocimetry.”

It involves high speed photography of fuel combustion in a transparent cylinder. Peterson is a 2001 graduate of Albert Lea High School and has a bachelor’s degree from Carleton College. He started his automotive studies at Riverland Community College with Jason Merritt. Peterson is currently living in Detroit and working as a research engineer for General Motors. He is the son of John and Deb Peterson of Albert Lea.
