Teens attempt lake swim

Two teenagers reportedly tried to swim across Fountain Lake Tuesday evening, according to police. Police are asking people to swim in designated swimming areas. The number of drownings across the state has hit a 10-year high.

 

Dog taken from animal shelter

A long-haired Chihuahua mix was reported stolen from the Albert Lea Animal Shelter Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, a woman and her teenage daughter reportedly came into the shelter at about 12:30 p.m., grabbed the dog and left. The woman reportedly made a comment that it was her dog before leaving.

The dog had been at the shelter since June 20.

Police stated the woman and daughter were driving a light blue Dodge Grand Caravan.

 

Car fire reported

A fire was reported underneath the hood of a car on Freeborn County Road 46, a half mile west of Hayward, at 10:42 a.m. Tuesday. According to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, the fire was put out by a passerby with a fire extinguisher before a fire department responded.

 

Sign reported stolen

A sign was reported stolen from the Lighthouse Event Center, 621 Marshall St., at 1:08 p.m. Tuesday, police stated.
