2 women injured in crash

Two women were injured Tuesday evening after a broadside collision in Faribault County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Karen Borglum, 55, of Bricelyn was taken to the Blue Earth Hospital in Blue Earth for minor injuries. Nineteen-year-old Trina Frank of Mapleton was taken by Mayo One helicopter to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. The extent of her injuries is unknown.

Reports stated the crash took place after Borglum’s 2004 Chevy Blazer collided broadside with Frank’s 2006 Volkswagen Jetta on Minnesota Highway 254 near the intersection with Faribault County Road 17.

According to the report, Frank was northbound on Highway 254 when she made a U-turn. Borglum was also northbound on Highway 254 and collided with the Jetta.

Frost fire and ambulance crews, along with Blue Earth fire and rescue crews assisted at the scene.

The State Patrol is investigating.

 

Lane closure in Ellendale

Motorists can expect single-lane traffic on Highway 30 through Ellendale today as crews repair a water main break.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

 

Man arrested for domestic assault

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Richard Darvin Andrews for domestic assault at 85464 South Island Circle in Hollandale at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday.

 

Woman arrested after hit-and-run

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Janiffer Lyne Suchanek, no age or address listed, for a series of violations after a report of a hit-and-run crash at 101 W. Park Ave. in Hollandale just after 11 p.m. Tuesday.

According to reports, Suchanek was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash, driving after cancellation, obstructing justice, resisting arrest and providing false information.

 

2 arrested for DWI

Deputies arrested Melanie Marie Gold for driving while intoxicated after receiving a report of a red van halfway into the ditch near the intersection of Freeborn County roads 20 and 25 at 12:41 a.m. today.

Police arrested James Duane Carlsen, 61, for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop at 8:24 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Main Street and First Avenue, reports stated.

 

Door damaged

Glass on the front door of 1617 SE Broadway Ave. was reported damaged at 7:01 a.m. Tuesday, according to reports.

 

Gun stolen

A gun was reported stolen from 303 Channel Road at 8:42 a.m. Tuesday, police stated.

 

Flowers missing at cemetery

Flowers were reported taken from Lakewood Cemetery at 8:58 a.m. Tuesday, according to police.

 

Vehicle damaged

A vehicle was reported egged and keyed at 1208 Southview Lane at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, police stated.
