Austin woman dies in motorcycle crash Saturday

An Austin woman died and her husband was injured Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Fillmore County.

Dana Legried, 38, died when her husband, 49-year-old Paul Legried, lost control of a 2012 Harley Davidson, went into the ditch along Highway 16 and struck a pole around 2:06 p.m., according to a report by the Minnesota State Patrol.

The motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Highway 16 near County Road 21 in Fillmore County. The motorcycle was totaled in the crash, according to the State Patrol.

Paul was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Both were not wearing helmets. Alcohol was not detected in either Paul or Dana’s system, according to the state patrol.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and road conditions on the two-land highway were dry, according to the State Patrol. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash. The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
