Man retires after 50 years of working at Streater

Streater in Albert Lea held a celebration Aug. 2 for Gene Matson, an employee who retired after working for 50 years for the company.

Eugene Matson worked in the distribution department at Streater and responsibilities included truck driving, load spotting and material handling.

Employees had a noon barbecue meal and cake as part of the celebration.

Maton brought his wife, Char, and daughter, Lana, for the celebration.

Employees gathered to congratulate Matson on his achievement.

Streater management said it’s extremely rare for employees to work 50 years for one employer, and they wish him well in his retirement. They said he was a great employee and that everyone enjoyed working with him because of his wit and humor.
