On Sept. 6, 1949, he was united in marriage to Theresa Pemrick at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Together they settled in Albert Lea to raise one daughter and three sons.

An active member of the Eagles Club, Richard served as secretary for more than 49 years. He was also a member of the American Legion and a faithful member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.

Richard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Theresa Pumper; daughter Julie (Dennis) Michaelis of Farmington; sons, Steve (Jean) Pumper of Plano, Texas, and Scott Pumper of Albert Lea; grandchildren Jill Michaelis, and Zachary and Nicholas Pumper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rita Wolters and Joyce Piepho; son, Tom Pumper; and grandson Ryan Michaelis.

Richard will be remembered as loving sports, visiting over coffee and sweets and negotiating a good bargain. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, and we will treasure the moments we shared and hold his memory dear.
