Police arrested Jesse Alan Manuel, 23, for possession of cocaine at 11:21 p.m. Tuesday at 134 W. William St., according to reports.

 

Blazer stolen

A 1989 white Chevy Blazer was reported stolen at 7:17 a.m. Tuesday at 73882 275th St., Clarks Grove, according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.

 

Cellphone stolen

A cellphone was reported stolen from 715 Valley Ave. at 9:57 a.m. Tuesday, according to police.

 

Garage door damaged

A garage door at 409 Columbus Ave. was reported kicked in at 1:42 p.m. Tuesday. Lights were also reportedly broken. The incident reportedly took place sometime Sunday night.

 

Sheriff’s Office warning about telephone scam 

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office is warning about a telephone scam targeting senior residents.

According to a news release from  Winnebago County Sheriff Douglas Jenson, young people are calling senior residents saying they are their grandchildren and are in jail. They are saying they do not want their grandparents to tell anyone they have been arrested and are asking for bail money.

Jenson said if people are concerned the caller could be a relative or friend, they should get as much information as possible and a telephone number and contact the Sheriff’s Office to determine whether the caller is valid. The Sheriff’s Office can be reached at 641-585-2828.
