Weekend Planner: Fall Field Day for kids is Saturday

The annual Fall Field Day, an event by the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association and Pheasants Forever, will be Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Participants will meet at the Hy-Vee parking lot at 8:45 a.m. and carpool to the countryside for a day of 3-D archery, trap shooting and dog and pheasant demonstrations. Lunch will be provided.

Friday

• Friends of the Albert Lea Public Library will hold a fall book sale from noon to 6 p.m. at City Hall.

• The City Arena hosts a day of pumpkin decorating, movie watching, craft making and more from 1 to 4 p.m.

• ACT presents “Dixie Swim Club” at 7:30 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.

• The Office Bar in Glenville hosts a tribute to Waylon, Willie, Kenny and more with Jerry Allen starting at 8:30 p.m.

 

Saturday

• Friends of the Albert Lea Public Library will hold a fall book sale from 9 a.m. to noon at City Hall.

• ACT presents “Dixie Swim Club” at 7:30 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.

 

Sunday

• The ALANO Society will host a breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at 1005 Ulstad Ave. Menu includes French toast, pancakes, eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, juice and coffee. Cost $5.

• The Masonic Lodge will host an Amaranth pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. above the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee. Choir students from Albert Lea High School will wait tables.

• A benefit for Tom Seltun will be from noon to 3 p.m. at the Albert Lea Moose Lodge. Seltun, 30, has been fighting multiple cancers for two years. The event includes $7 burger baskets and $10 raffle tickets for prizes that include gift certificates and a flat-screen TV. There will also be a silent auction.

• Alden’s Redeemer Lutheran Church will host its annual harvest dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. at the school’s cafeteria. Menu includes turkey and dressing, potatoes, gravy, corn, cranberry salad, rolls and homemade desserts. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 5 to 12, and free for those under age 5. Carry out and deliver orders are welcome; call 402-0172. The dinner raises funds for Redeemer’s property improvement fund. Supplemental funds will be by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
