Be a mentor this Thanksgiving

Published 10:59 am Monday, November 19, 2012

This Thanksgiving I will have so much to be grateful for — good health, a warm place to live, plenty to eat, wonderful family and friends. I am blessed to be living in southern Minnesota.

If you are counting your blessings, I challenge you to find a way to give back to our community for the pleasure of living here. There are many worthwhile volunteer opportunities this time of year. I would like to highlight one opportunity that enriches the lives of the volunteers and those they serve all year long.

This Thanksgiving, please consider becoming a mentor to a deserving child or teenager. All young people need positive and caring adults in their lives, but not all children have such a support system available. If you enjoy being with kids and have a few hours, two to four times a month, to spend with a child who needs guidance and encouragement, please contact me for more information.
