Minn. St., Mankato beats Wisconsin 4-2

MADISON, Wis. — Eriah Hayes scored the go-ahead goal and goalie Stephon Williams made it stand up as Minnesota State, Mankato beat Wisconsin 4-2 Friday in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Hayes’ goal at 5:48 of the third period broke a tie. Eli Zuck scored an empty-net goal with 45 seconds left in the game.

Williams stopped 12 of his 32 shots in the third period for the Mavericks (4-5-2, 2-5-0). He had a game-high 16 saves in the second period.

Matt Leitner had a goal and an assist to extend his points streak to five games. Dylan Margonari also had a goal and an assist.

Wisconsin (1-6-2, 1-4-2) had won seven straight at home against MSUM.

Ryan Little and Michael Mersch had goals for Wisconsin, which dropped to 0-3-0 at home.
