Disc golfers Jared Johnson, right, and December Moore won the points races for men and women competitors on the 2012 North Iowa Tour. Points were measured through performances at eight tournaments throughout the season — April through September. The tournaments were the Hampton Showdown in Hampton, Iowa; Battle of the Bridge in Forest City, Iowa; Bancroft Bay Open in Albert Lea, Minn.; River City Disco in Mason City, Iowa; Coulter Challenge in Coulter, Iowa; Thornton Open in Thornton, Iowa; and Battle of Belmond in Belmond, Iowa.

Disc golfer Josh Hoekstra from Rochester, right, took home the men’s title Oct. 27 at the 2012 North Iowa Tour Finals in Forest City, Iowa. He was among 32 men who qualified for the finals. He defeated Albert Lea disc golfer Jared Johnson to win the trophy. December Moore, left, was the winner of the women’s title. Moore is an Albert Lea resident who was among nine competitors in the match play. She defeated Suzanne Hillyard of Newton, Iowa. Tournaments through the season regularly saw attendance between 50 and 70 competitors from Iowa and Minnesota. Only the top 32 reached the finals, however. The 2012 North Iowa Tour visited seven courses in Iowa and one in Minnesota. The Iowa courses were in Hampton, Forest City, Mason City, Northwood, Coulter, Thornton and Belmond. The Minnesota course was in Albert Lea.
