Southeastern Minn. Chamber orchestra to present its annual Christmas concert

The Southeastern Minnesota Chamber Orchestra will present its annual Christmas concert at First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea at 7 p.m. Dec. 2. The concert combines the musical gifts of the Southeastern Minnesota Chamber Orchestra, the First Lutheran Chamber Choir, the Albert Lea Community Chorus, the First Lutheran Handbell Choir and the First Lutheran Children’s Choir.

The classic Christmas concert will feature many beloved Christmas carols as well as several new arrangements of traditional favorites. Jennifer Ordalen will be the special guest soloist with the orchestra and chorus. Cali Mowers will be the featured soloist from the children’s choir. Selections include such traditional carols as “Sweet Little Jesus Boy,” “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” There will also be more recent works by John Rutter, Michael W. Smith and Brock A. Besse. The variety of styles is sure to provide something for everyone’s musical Christmas taste.

Members of the orchestra come from Albert Lea, Austin, Rochester, Ellendale and Hayward. The singers are from the Albert Lea area. Refreshments will be served in Bethany Hall after the concert.

Tickets are available at First Lutheran Church, Marshall Street Music and from members of the orchestra, as well as at the door the evening of the concert. Advance sale prices are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, with students up through high school age admitted for free. At the door, tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors.
