St. John’s Auxiliary

St. John’s Auxiliary met at 2 p.m. Oct. 15 in St. John’s Chapel. President Carol Rask welcomed everyone. The Rev. Krista Stokka led in devotions. Becky Nordland on piano led everyone in singing “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee” and “This Little Light of Mine.”

Auxiliary secretary Bonnie Schneider read the minutes of the September meeting. Treasurer Lorraine Schoper gave the treasurer’s report. Both were approved as read.

Diane Wichmann, activities director, reported 836 volunteer hours for September: day care three hours, three You & Me Clubs and two sing-alongs. Wichmann also reported on resident activities for November: Veterans Day Breakfast and Program on Sunday, lutefisk dinner at Emmons Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Albert Lea High School play “Honk” on Wednesday, Glenville High School choir singing at St. John’s, Debbie Norland music on Nov. 16, Auxiliary Christmas decorating on Nov. 2, Chris Von Arx music on Nov. 27, Richie Z music on Nov. 29 and Dale Martell music on Nov. 30.

Vice-president Caroline Sorenson read the names of residents celebrating October birthdays. The birthday song was sung.

Churches thanked for serving Sunday coffee were: Mansfield Lutheran, Central Freeborn Lutheran and East Freeborn Lutheran.

The program was provided by Orville and Irene Goskeson. They played on guitar, accordion and saw and sang many songs.

Refreshments were provided by Sue Barnes — 2nd South and St. John’s Dietary Department.

The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
