Symposium looks at fighting cancer

As a long-term cancer survivor and cancer advocate, I would like to share information about an upcoming cancer symposium. This free event will be educational and entertaining for all those touched by cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society, there have been approximately 28,000 newly diagnosed cases of cancer in Minnesota alone this year. It’s getting more and more difficult to find someone who hasn’t been affected by cancer, and information is an essential tool.

If you would like to learn more about cancer and the treatment options available locally and at Mayo Clinic, make plans to attend the Lloyd and Ardis Peterson Cancer Education Symposium 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club.

The symposium will feature John Laurie, M.D., medical oncologist, and Timothy Kozelsky, M.D., radiation oncologist from the Cancer Center at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, as well as Jeff Sloan, Ph.D., Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. The keynote speaker is Christine Clifford, cancer survivor, humorist, author and CEO of the Cancer Club.

Seats are limited, so register early by calling 507-379-2046. Hope to see you all there.
