A 17-year-old boy was reportedly stabbed three times with a small knife Wednesday morning in a residence in southeast Albert Lea, according to the Albert Lea Police Department.

A 15-year-old girl has been arrested in connection to the incident and is being held at a juvenile detention facility, said Lt. Darren Hansen.

He declined to comment on how the two teenagers were related, what led to the alleged stabbing and what kind of small knife it was.

The lieutenant said police were notified of the incident from medical crews at the emergency room at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea at 8:46 a.m. Wednesday. The teenager was reportedly brought into the emergency room and was suffering from three stab wounds — two to the thigh and one to the back.

The injuries are not life-threatening, Hansen said, and he was unsure whether the teenager was taken to another medical facility or simply treated at the hospital.

The police lieutenant said the stabbing had taken place at 715 Alcove St. earlier that morning. Alcove Street is one block south of Front Street near Lincoln Avenue.

Limited information was available because of their juvenile status.

Hansen was able to mention, however, that the juveniles were students at the Area Learning Center at Brookside Education Center.
