David Stenzel, 82, Wells

David F. Stenzel, 82, of Wells, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Parkview Care Center in Wells, where he had lived since May of 2011. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. Visitation will be at St. Casimir Catholic Church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with Rosary beginning at 9:15 a.m. The Rev. Thomas Niehaus will officiate and military honors will be accorded by the Wells color guard. The interment will be in St. Casimir Cemetery in Wells. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.
David was born Feb. 18, 1930, in Minnesota Lake, the son of Alexander and Mary (Olson) Stenzel. He married Jane Bushlack on May 1, 1951, in Wells. David served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and after an honorable discharge, became a member of the Wells VFW. He worked in the warehouse at Banquet Foods in Wells for 26 years. He also dispatched and delivered the Sunday Star Tribune for more than 30 years. He was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. David was a big fan of the Minnesota Gophers, and also enjoyed fishing, hunting and card-playing. He was an avid supporter of the Area Veterans Memorial in Wells. David especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.
David is survived by his wife, Jane, of Wells; two sons, Linnie (Brenda) Stenzel of North Mankato and Terry Stenzel of Wells; three grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) Stenzel of Mankato, Keith (Katie) Stenzel of St. Peter, and Emily Stenzel of St. Cloud; two great-grandchildren, Mikaela and Cody Stenzel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Phillip, Leo and Sylvester.
Memorials are preferred to the Area Veterans Memorial in Wells, or to the donor’s choice.
