Funeral services for Dean C. Johnson, 72, of Hartland, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Shawn Stafford will officiate. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Dean died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.

Dean Clifford Johnson was born on Dec. 24, 1939, in Hartland, the son of Carl and Ida (Greenwood) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. Dean attended District 62 and then New Richland High School. On Aug. 13, 1966, he was united in marriage to Ruth Alice Butenhoff in Iowa. Dean farmed in the Hartland area most of his life. He enjoyed camping, dancing, Nascar racing, football, fishing and loved Ford cars and trucks and tractor collecting. Dean volunteered for many years for the local cancer auction. He was a member of the Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Eagles and Moose clubs.

Dean is survived by his wife, Ruth; children: Sandra (Matt) Jensen, Cindy (John) Raab, James (Karen) Johnson and Keven (Sharon) Johnson; granddaughters: Patricia (Paul) Kleven and Jennifer Raab; sisters: Lois Baker, Betty (Bill) Bohland and Elsie (Richard) Marlin; brother Gene Johnson and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ida; his in-laws, Elmer and Harriet Butenhoff; brother Albert, sisters-in-law; Helen, Ruth and Darlene Butenhoff; brother-in-law Lloyd Baker and twin brothers in infancy.
