Duane Meyer, 66, Austin

Duane D. Meyer, 66, of Austin, died Thursday afternoon, Dec. 13, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. He was born Oct. 5, 1946, in Albert Lea, to Leonard and Ardell (Anderson) Meyer. He grew up in Albert Lea, then lived in Bancroft and Oakland. After his marriage to Linda Christy on Nov. 4, 1967, the couple lived in Austin. An employee of Hormel Foods Corporation for over 23 years, Duane also worked at Cedar Valley as a bus driver for more than 12 years. He was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, and enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife Linda Meyer of Austin; his father Leonard A. Meyer of Hayward; daughter Victoria (Harrington) Meyer and son Richard (Trisha) Meyer, both of Austin; four grandchildren, Amanda, Candice, Zachary, and Nathanial; four great-grandchildren, Aiyana, Mason, Rodney, and Haydenn; his brothers, Leonard S. (Barb) Meyer of Oakland, and Darrell (Pam) Meyer of Albert Lea; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Ardell Meyer and two brothers Bruce and Robert.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. David Fleischmann officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorials can be directed to recipient of donor’s choice.
