Elvira Lahs, 94, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Elvira Ruby Lahs of Albert Lea, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Elvira died on Monday morning, Dec. 3, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. She was 94 years of age. Elvira was born July 23, 1918, in Mansfield Township, Freeborn County, the daughter of Anton and Palma (Johnson) Wigern. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1939 and on Nov. 1, 1945, was united in marriage to Hilbert Lahs in Kiester.

Elvira worked for many years housekeeping for various families in Freeborn County and then with Wilson & Co. until 1957. She retired from Semcac where she cooked after 17 years at the age of 73. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, knitting Afghans and sewing.

Elvira is survived by her daughter Nancy (Jerry) Fulfs of Albert Lea, grandson Chad Fulfs, great-grandchildren Samantha and Jennifer Fulfs, sisters and brother Garnet (Kenneth) Rajewsky of Bowman, N.D., Omer (Ardel Dahling) Wigern of Kiester, Lee Ann (James) Kronlokken of Eden Prairie, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Palma, husband Hilbert, son Daniel, brother Albe (Marie) Wigern and sister Esther (Bill) Rasmussen.
