Richard “Dick” Paulson, 72, of Ortonville, died Dec. 22, 2012, in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday. The Rev. Karen Evenson will officiate and burial will be in the Mound Cemetery. Tim Mundwiler will be the vocalist/guitarist.
Richard George Paulson was born April 24, 1940, in St. Cloud. He was the son of George and Lsyle (Rhodes) Paulson. Following his education, Dick proudly served in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, Dick began his career as a school teacher. He taught a total of 36 years, teaching four years in Plummer; 21 years in Freeborn; and 11 years in Wells. Dick taught social studies and physical education. He also coached high school football, basketball and baseball. He was an avid reader and enjoyed history books. He loved to watch sports on television and enjoyed the history channel. Dick was a volunteer fireman and EMT in Plummer and Freeborn. He also was captain of the ambulance service in Freeborn. Dick held a special place in his heart for his kitty, Sabrina.
Dick Paulson is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Ortonville; his son, John Paulson, of Ortonville; one brother, Jerry (Dee) Paulson, of Green Valley, Ariz.; two sisters: Georgia (Ted) Simons of Carrolton and Helen Trickey of Illinois; his sister-in-law, Janie Paulson, of New Richmond, Wis.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Robert and Wally; two sisters: Dee Paulson and Jane McIntire; one nephew, Ned Simons; and one sister-in-law, Sheila Paulson.
