Minnesota House Speaker-elect Paul Thissen on Monday appointed District 27A Rep.-elect Shannon Savick to three committees for the 2013-14 session.
According to a news release, Savick will serve as a member of the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee, the Jobs and Economic Development Finance Committee, and the Labor, Workplace and Regulated Industries Committee.
Savick said she is excited for the opportunity to shape legislation that will directly impact the district’s residents.
Promoting jobs and economic development is vital to keeping our economy moving forward, and public safety is a core government function critical to our area and communities across the state,” she said.
Savick, the former mayor of Wells, defeated incumbent District 27A Rich Murray in the November election.
She and the other 133 state representatives will be sworn into office during a ceremony at the state Capitol on Jan. 8.
