Steven August Egeness, 66, of Bricelyn, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church in Brush Creek Township, Faribault County. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. The Rev. Joel Vano will officiate and interment will be at North Blue Earth Lutheran Cemetery in Brush Creek Township. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.
Steven was born Jan. 20, 1946, at Blue Earth Hospital in Blue Earth, the son of Arnold and Martha (Thompson) Egeness. He graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1964, and graduated with honors from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, with a double major in accounting and English. He married Sara Ayres on Aug. 29, 1965, in Des Moines, Iowa; they were happily married for 47 years. Steven worked in computer and insurance sales for most of his life. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea where he served as an elder and enjoyed many activities. He also enjoyed Jaycees in his younger years. He loved traveling, reading and talking with people; and he especially loved his family.
Steven is survived by his wife, Sara, of Bricelyn; children, Stephen Egeness of St. Cloud, Susan Kondrat of Crystal Lake, Ill., Stacy Egeness of Woodbury; and three grandsons, Alexander Egeness, Marshall Kondrat and Cole Kondrat. He is also survived an uncle, Lester Egeness of Frost, and by several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Arnold Egeness.
