You Can Help

Here are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, RSVP, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433 also 800-642-1875.

Community Mentor Connection: January 2013, National Mentoring Month, is vital for boys and girls who are waiting for men and women mentors. As a mentor, you spend some fun time with a child averaging two hours each week. The program offers training and organizes activities you can participate in together. All of this helps make a difference in the life of a child and in our community! Another great way to get started would be to help plan events occasionally for mentors and children while you learn more about mentoring. Carolyn Smith coordinates this program; call 383-5272.

Martin Luther King Breakfast volunteers: Help make this Jan. 21 a ‘Day On for Service’ as you help with the planning and preparations. This will be the 25th annual MLK Day Program and Breakfast in Albert Lea. It will be in Bethany Hall, First Lutheran Church, from 7 to 8 a.m. Please call Stumme, Senior Resources/RSVP, at 377-7433 to lend a hand for service.
