MAPLETON — The Albert Lea wrestling team crushed the competition at the Maple River Tournament on Saturday.
The Tigers earned 215 total points at the seven-team tournament, thrashing the team totals for all other teams including Maple River, who finished in second place with 133 points.
“It was a great tournament,” Albert Lea head coach Larry Goodnature said. “A lot of kids got some wins along with some confidence.”
Eight Albert Lea wrestlers won their weight class: Garrett Wangsness, Dakota Wangsness, Trevor Westerlund, Devin Nelson, Lucas Hansen, Santana Acosta, Tim Christianson and Tristan Westerlund.
The Tigers cleaned house in the low weight classes, winning each match from 113 to 132 pounds.
