Annabelle Knutsen, 94, Lake Mills

Annabelle (Annie) A. Knutsen, 94, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills. Annabelle A. Knutsen was born March 19, 1918, in Clinton Falls, the daughter of Harvey and Ingeborg Christenson Anderson.
She attended the Steele County District No. 8 rural school for five years, the Louis Agassiz Grade School in Minneapolis for one year, and Bryant Junior High School in Minneapolis for one year. When the family moved to Scarville, Iowa, in 1929, she attended and graduated from Scarville High School in 1935. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and taught elementary school in Hanlontown, Iowa, until 1943. She subsequently was employed at the Soo Line Railroad offices in Minneapolis until retirement in 1974.
On June 19, 1943, she married Harold E. Knutsen. Harold was the father of a 5-year-old son, Gary W. Knutsen. Gary of Minneapolis married Jeanette (Jan) Weber Knutsen Doty. Annie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jan; two granddaughters, Deborah Knutsen of Wisconsin and Karen Williams of Lakeville; grandson, Michael Knutsen of Lakeville; two great-granddaughters Casey Williams and Ellie Knutsen of Lakeville; and two great-grandsons, Ryan and Will Knutsen of Lakeville. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, parents, stepson, Gary, brothers, Lester and Kermit, stepmother Alpha Peterson Grunhovd Anderson, stepbrothers, Adolph and Harold Grunhovd and many relatives and friends.
A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date in Lake Mills.
