Helen E. Weigel of Thorne Crest Retirement Community in Albert Lea passed away Jan. 18, 2013.

She was born Feb. 28, 1922, to Carl Edward and Hanna (Utabjaa) Estergren.

There will be a private burial later.

Helen graduated from Albert Lea High School class of 1940. She married Chief Petty Officer Francis Weigel Dec. 20, 1944, at Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Survivors include sister-in-law Kathy Estergren of Chaska; niece Cherie (Randy) Bartz and their son Matthew of Shakopee; nephew Craig (Julie) Estergren and their son Gareth, of Milton, Wis.; sisters-in-law Catherine Weigel Callahan of Browerville and Marie Weigel Pick of Waldorf.

She was preceded in death by husband Francis Weigel, parents Carl Edward and Hanna Estergren and brothers Carliss (Corky) Estergren, Arnold (Monetta) Estergren and Vernon (Mary) Estergren.
