Jean Johnson, 88, Ellendale

Funeral services for Jean C. Johnson of Ellendale will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. The Rev. Richard Sliper will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Ellendale and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, Ellendale.

Mrs. Johnson died on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the Thorne Crest Retirement Community in Albert Lea. She was 88 years of age.

Jean was born July 13, 1924, in Graceton, the daughter of John and Clara (Huseby) Koranda. She attended public school.

Jean was united in marriage to Lee Johnson on Feb. 14, 1976, in Ellendale. She lived most of her life in Steele and Freeborn counties. Jean was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Ellendale and had been employed as a waitress for many years. In her free time she enjoyed playing cards.

Jean is survived by her husband, Lee, of Ellendale; children, Vernon (Jeanne) Simonson of Clarks Grove, Lori (Randy) Simonson of Clarks Grove; step-children Larry (Lois) Johnson of Owatonna and Connie Johnson of New Richland; grandchildren, Kevin Peterson, Darrin (Sue) Peterson, Dana Simonson, Crystal (Eric) Luxmore, Amber (Adam) Benson, Ronda (John) Stackpole, Tara (Jeff) Johnson, Eric Eisel, Trevor Titus, Tyler Titus, Carly Titus, Sara (Mike) Lindstrom and Shawn Johnson; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, George Koranda; sisters, Lorraine Tarris and Marge (Richard) Koranda; sisters-in-law Margaret Koranda and Lill Koranda; many nieces, nephews, special friends; and neighbors, Jeff, Angie, Nash and Aryanna.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Bonita Eisel and Gladys Peterson, grandchild Jamie Peterson and brothers Kenneth Koranda and John Koranda.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
