The funeral service for Jeffrey Scott Ashmead of Emmons will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Cathi Braasch will officiate. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service on Thursday.

Jeffrey died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. He was 50 years old.

Jeffrey was born Jan. 4, 1963, in Minneapolis. Jeffrey graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1981. He enlisted in the Army right after graduation and served in the Army from 1981 to 1994. After being honorably discharged, Jeffrey moved back to Minnesota.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ashmead; son, Eric Gonzales; daughter, Kelly Gonzales; his lovely granddaughter, Mia; mother, Rita Gulsun; brother Shawn Ashmead and his wife Hannah; two sisters, Deanna Ashmead and Kimberly (Raymond) Berkley; many aunts, uncles and cousins; nieces and nephews; his loving pets, Patches, Precious, Mama Kitty and Tommy.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Ashmead and brother, Mike Grimes.

Jeffrey was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
