Alliant Energy said power has returned for 2,700 customers who lost power Monday shortly after noon.

An ITC Midwest transmission line fell onto Alliant Energy lines, according to Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Alliant Energy.

“We were able to get just over 2,200 customers back on just after 1 p.m.,” Alliant Energy stated around 2 p.m., “but we were not able to completely reroute power to get the remaining customers on. We expect that if everything goes OK, ITC Midwest will have their issues resolved by 3:30 p.m.”

And indeed by 3:30, the power had returned to all but one customer, Alliant said.

Hawthorne Elementary School, Brookside Education Center and Albert Lea High School were affected by the outage.
