ROCHESTER — The Albert Lea girls’ hockey team fell 5-2 at Rochester John Marshall.
The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead near the end of the first period, but John Marshall came back to take a 2-1 lead in the second, Albert Lea girls’ hockey coach Paul Willett said.
Albert Lea struck late again in the second period with a power play goal by Anna Anderson.
The Tigers trailed by only one goal at the start of the third period.
However, the Rockets outscored Albert Lea 2-0 in the final period to earn the win.
Sydney Overgaard stepped up for the Tigers by assisting on both scoring plays.
“Sydney played a great game,” Willett said. “She was just fantastic out there, battling through injuries.”
The Tigers fell to 9-10 on the season, while the Rockets won its sixth straight match and improved to 15-5.
“The kids played well,” Willett said. “It was a great effort against a very good hockey team.”
