The Naeve Alumni and Nurses’ Club announces eight scholarships available to area graduating seniors or persons who have successfully completed one year of education in a registered nurse program. Each of the scholarships are for the amount of $1,000.

Scholarships to be awarded are the Mildred Scherb Slagle, Jennie Nelson Haertel, Tillie Richter Memorial, Evelyn Stadheim Memorial, Marge Mutschler and three from the Naeve Alumni and Nurses’ Club.

Graduating seniors from Albert Lea, Alden-Conger, Glenville-Emmons, Lake Mills, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva, United South Central and Northwood-Kensett high schools are eligible.

Children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren of Naeve Hospital School of Nursing alumni will be given first consideration. All scholarship applications must be received by April 1.

Applications may be obtained from high school counselors or from the principal’s office. Applications may also be obtained by contacting Jeanie Godtland at 377-9086 or by emailing camel507@msn.com.

Factors to be considered by the scholarship committee are scholarship, service, community involvement and demostrated leadership.

The scholarships will be awarded at the club’s annual luncheon on April 27. The recipients will be expected to attend.

Efforts are made to make the selection as bias-free as possible. All identifying information is blacked out before consideration by the committee.
