9th-graders to compete at state

Four Albert Lea wrestlers who participated in the ninth-grade individual sectional wrestling tournament on Jan. 21 in Owatonna will now advance to the state tournament.

From left are Dedoch Chan, an eighth-grader who placed first at 160 pounds, Parker Mullenbach, a ninth-grader who placed second at 126 pounds, Blake Simon, an eighth-grader who placed second at 113 pounds, and Gavin Ignaszewski, a seventh-grader who placed second at 106 pounds. --Submitted

Dedoch Chan, an eighth-grader, placed first at 160 pounds; Parker Mullenbach, a ninth-grader, placed second at 126 pounds; Blake Simon, an eighth-grader, placed second at 113 pounds; and Gavin Ignaszewski, a seventh-grader, placed second at 106 pounds.

The tournament consisted of 12 teams and those who placed in the top two of their weight class qualified for the state tournament.

The state tournament for individual ninth-graders will be Saturday at Champlin Park High School.
