I hope most Americans are aware that President Barack Obama has given himself the power to indiscriminately kill whoever he deems “necessary” with the use of unmanned drone aircraft. As a result, many innocent people, (aka “collateral damage”) have been wounded or killed in these strikes. Among them, moms and dads, young children, the elderly, the sick and disabled. This is not the ranting of Fox News but simply the facts.

Sadly the press continues to circle the wagons around this president and his administration and won’t report the facts. When President George W. Bush decided to launch the war in Iraq, the press had plenty to say about it.

On a more local level, I’m left wondering where the protesters are who met weekly at the corner of Bridge Avenue and Fountain Street to condemn the immoral war in Iraq? Don’t the innocents in Afghanistan deserve the same attention? I guess it all depends on whether your president has an “R” or a “D” after his name.

For the record, I was opposed to the war in Iraq, and I disagree with “the thing that used to be conservatism” that believes the president is justified for using the drones in this manner. Lest those on the political left feel vindicated, your silence on the drone strikes is deafening!
