9 injured after residential fire

MINNEAPOLIS — Nine people are injured after a fire in Minneapolis.
According to a Minneapolis fire department news release, fire crews responded to a residential building fire at about 5:40 a.m. Saturday.
When they arrived, they saw heavy smoke and residents evacuating.
Fire officials say they had to use ladders to rescue some residents from the second floor windows.
The fire was confined to the basement and firefighters got the fire under control in about 15 minutes.
Nine people were taken to local hospitals. The news release did not give any details on the extent of their injuries. No fire fighters were injured.
Officials are still investigating the fire’s cause.
