Funeral services for Delmar Sanderson will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Round Prairie Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at Round Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Delmar died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.
Delmar Duane Sanderson was born on Jan. 23, 1933, to Arnold and Pearl (Kleven) Sanderson in Freeborn County. Delmar grew up in rural Glenville and attended rural school. He served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Fort Gordon, Ga. On Oct. 27, 1957, Delmar was united in marriage to Willa Raye Bork at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle. Delmar worked at Progress Casting, Red Owl Warehouse and enjoyed farming with his son, Mike. He was a member of Round Prairie Lutheran Church. Delmar enjoyed visiting with his children and grandchildren, brother-in-law, Phil, and sister-in-law, Shary, on Wednesdays and Fridays and driving to visit his brother Bud, aunt Florence and cousin Donna. He also enjoyed watching CNN and FOX News.
Survivors include his wife, Willa; children, Mike (Darci) Sanderson of Glenville, Rebecca (Scott) Bachtle of Albert Lea and Michelle Sanderson of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Nicole (Kevin) Mulling of Osage, Iowa, Brianna, Derek and Jacob Sanderson of Glenville, Jeremy (Vanessa) Bachtle of Toluca Lake, Calif., Brandon Bachtle of Mankato, Sabra and Ashton Kogel of Albert Lea and Jaxon Heilman of Albert Lea; great-grandson, Carter of Osage; brother, Burnell Sanderson of Glenville; sister-in-law Shary (Phillip) Swensrud of Albert Lea and Janet (Joe) Mildenberger of Apple Valley; aunt (Auntie) Florence Palmer of Glenville; cousin, Donna of Glenville; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Pearl; father and mother-in-law Lloyd and Evelyn (Bush) Bork; daughter-in-law Diane Sanderson and sister-in-law Connie Bork.
