Editorial: Lining up spring breaks would work well

Wouldn’t it be convenient if the school districts in the area lined up their spring breaks?
Albert Lea is one week. Austin is another. Alden-Conger is yet a different week. It seems all across Minnesota schools select various different weeks for that annual time off from learning.
It makes it difficult for extended families to spend time together. During winter break, nearly all the school districts are similar. Uncles, aunts, grandmas, grandpas, nieces and nephews can spend time together on Christmas or New Year’s Day.
But during spring break, relatives who want to travel together or even parents who want to send the kids to Grandma’s house to play with cousins run into the problem of one district’s spring break comes earlier or later than the other district’s break.
It’s not a major issue, but it sure would be nice for families, especially as they become more spread around with each passing generation.
