Correctional officers and sergeants in the Freeborn County jail will see salary increases both this year and next.
The Freeborn County commissioners on Tuesday approved a 1.75 percent salary increase in 2013 and a 2 percent increase in 2014, said Freeborn County Administrator John Kluever.
The agreement is in suit with the 2013 increase for non-union employees approved in December and for employees under the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union OK’d at a prior meeting.
Three commissioners approved the agreement, as commissioners Chris Shoff and Mike Lee were absent from the meeting. Shoff was attending a conference in Washington, and Lee was out sick.
Two labor units representing Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies still need to be negotiated.
In other action, the commissioners:
• Increased the percent of agricultural property that can be taken up by a structure.
These sites are now able to have a structure on 20 percent of the property, instead of 10 percent.
• Appointed Jon Ford, Bob Haas and Amanda Buchanan to the Freeborn County Board of Appeals.
• Tabled a resolution supporting the Shell Rock River Watershed District’s funding request for the Fountain Lake restoration project until Lee could be present.
