Life is filled with moments that change us, teach us, make us catch our breath and sometimes fill us with multiple and sometimes conflicting emotions.

Together, the Panther girls’ basketball team did just that and celebrated the power of a team and a dream.

Never doubt that a small group of committed young ladies can accomplish seemingly impossible goals. They showed us all how winners behave with the confidence and conduct, both on and off the court. Teamwork has its own arithmetic. Combine two or more people in the pursuit of a common purpose, and suddenly one-plus-one is more than two. There is a word for that — it’s called “gestalt” — the sum of the parts is more that the whole. This team played bigger than anyone but themselves believed they could.

Together they were always able to accomplish what none of them could achieve alone.

As we sat and watched and anticipated what was happening on the basketball floor, how could we not see the character that was exploding there? It was nice to win the trophy, but that is just a trophy. The real prize was those girls on the floor and on the bench who proved they could work together with talent, stamina and character beyond all expectations.

Celebrating the power of a team and a dream, you learned a valuable lesson and taught it all to us, your fans.

You are the champions in more ways than one.
